Godfather of Harlem starring Forest Whitaker is now casting basketball players in New York City

Casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming on scenes filming on Friday, November 30th in New York City.

Producers are seeking the following types:

  • GWCI is seeking SAG-AFTRA or NON UNION AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN to portray 1960s basketball players for the new EPIX series GODFATHER OF HARLEM!
  • -Shoot date is FRIDAY 11/30 (must have full day/night availability). Wardrobe fitting is in Brooklyn, Wednesday 11/28
  • Must be 18 yrs old or older. Tri-state area locals ONLY!
  • Men must be okay getting a 1960s haircut and being clean shaven on the day. No modern haircuts, no edging or fades. Must be okay working around atmospheric smoke. No wool allergies. RATE IS $180/8HRS. Exterior work, current season.
  • CASTING REAL BASKETBALL PLAYERS!

Forest Whitaker will star in the EPIX series Godfather of Harlem. According to Variety, “The series is titled “Godfather of Harlem.” It will tell the true story of crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Whitaker), who in the early 1960s returned after 10 years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles. With the streets controlled by the Italian mob, Bumpy takes on the Genovese crime family to regain control. During the brutal battle, he forms an alliance with radical preacher Malcolm X, catching his political rise in the crosshairs of social upheaval and a mob war that threatens to tear the city apart.”
