Louisiana Movie Theater Shooter’s Journal Released: “America is in the midst of celebrating filth”

Date:

The Lafayette movie theater shooting has shocked the world and now the shooter’s journal has just been released.

Three people were killed and seven people were injured after a gunman opened fire at the Grand Theatre in Lafayette, Louisiana Thursday night during a screening of Trainwreck

According to reports, those injured range in age from teens to early 60s. Police arrived while the shooting was occurring, and police have shut down the other Grand Theatre in town and deployed police to other theaters. Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft said he believed the gunman, a 58-year-old white male, was sitting in the theater alone when he opened fire with a handgun.

Yesterday, police released a journal belonging to John Houser, who killed two people and wounded nine last summer in a shooting at a Louisiana movie theater. According to reports, Houser wrote, shortly before the shooting, that he was leaving the journal “in hopes of truth, my death all but assured.”

Houser, described as a 59-year-old loer, left the 40-page, handwritten journal, which describes the United States as a “filth farm” and praises Dylann Roof, in his room at a Motel 6 not too long before the shooter.

Here’s what the Associated Press had to say:

“If you have not stood against filth, you are now a soft target,” he wrote on the lined pages of the notebook.

, and as such they are the enemy,” he later added.

Houser described Dylann Roof — a young white man accused of killing nine people inside a historic black church in Charleston that June 17 — as “green but good.”

“Thank you for the wake up call Dylann,” he added.

You can read the entire journal here but, it basically gives an inside look into the mind of the man who killed himself as police stormed the theater.

“Yes, it will be said and said, ‘how senseless,’ but if my act drains the value of the dollar (because it is not based on anything) by creating new expenses (guards, bulletproof glass, etc. at movie theaters) it is for good overall,” Houser wrote. “The US is the enemy of good, of God.”

“Comments posted in his own writing revealed his ideals and that he had battled his local government and had a hatred for the United States Government,” one government analysis found. “Houser’s interests also included ‘Golden Dawn’ which is a Greek organization with neo-Nazi beliefs.’”

But, despite reading all of the journals, reporters find that they don’t have a clear motive for the shooting. ABC News reports, “Investigators described the shooting in gruesome detail in reports that totaled 589 pages. They determined that Houser entered the theater with a handgun hidden in his pants, and waited several minutes before pulling it out and opening fire.”
