Tom Cruise revealed he will only do ‘Top Gun 2‘, if there’s no CGI
Tom Cruise recently spoke with ‘Extra’s AJ Calloway at the premiere of his new movie, ‘Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation,’ on Thursday at the Vienna Opera House.
The 53-year-old actor revealed whether he would reprise his role as Maverick in the upcoming ‘Top Gun 2’. Tom Cruise revealed that, “If I can figure it out, if all of us can figure it out, it’d be fun to do, I’d like to fly those jets again, but we got to do all the jets practical, no CGI on the jets… I’m saying right now no CGI on the jets. If we can figure all that out, and the Department of Defense will allow us to do it, that would be fun.”
It was also the first time Tom had seen the final version of ‘Mission Impossible Rogue Nation’. He revealed, “McQuarrie and I just finished this on Saturday… at 2 o’clock… we’re all just really going to enjoy this evening. We’re gonna be seeing all the final pieces that we did from Friday night to Saturday.”
Tom Cruise is pretty fearless. He recently admitted to why he did all of his stunts on ‘Mission Impossible 5’ and if he wants to do a ‘Top Gun 2’ movie without CGI, expect the actor to start taking classes to learn how to fly a multi-million dollar jet.
Earlier this year while promoting Terminator Genisys, Skydance CEO David Ellison confirmed they were writing the screenplay, with the plot emphasizing “drone technology and fifth generation fighters. It’s really exploring the end of an era of dogfighting and fighter pilots and what that culture is today.”
Jerry Bruckheimer stated that: “For 30 years we’ve been trying to make a sequel and we’re not going to stop. We still want to do it with Tom [Cruise] and Paramount are still interested in making it. What Tom tells me is that no matter where he goes in the world, people refer to him as Maverick. It’s something he is excited about so as long as he keeps his enthusiasm hopefully we’ll get it made.”
‘Top Gun 2’ is going to be pretty interesting.
