Why LeBron James Didn’t Take Acting Class for ‘Trainwreck’

Date:

LeBron James didn’t take acting classes for the movie ‘Trainwreck’.

If LeBron was ever considering a career outside of basketball, then he may have found a new home in Hollywood.

According to USA Today, LeBron James said that he was told that he would be playing himself in the movie and he figured that would be easy enough to do without acting classes. “I can just show up, I’m LeBron, I’ll play basketball, and shoot some jumpers, I can dunk. And it was like ‘uh no, you’re actually going to be Bill’s best friend in the movie.’ And I’m like ‘so that means I’m going to have … lines?”

But, it’s interesting to point out that LeBron James never took a single acting class. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter LeBron James never took a single acting class before working on the new movie ‘Trainwreck’.

What may come as a surprise is James eschewed acting lessons before taking on the Trainwreckrole, which required five days on set. “He’s been in front of the cameras since he was 18,” explained James’ business manager and childhood friend Maverick Carter. “He’s very comfortable in front of the camera. He didn’t need an acting coach.”

With each take, the lines changed slightly, but that’s Apatow’s improvisational style. Schumer, too, seemed to be deviating from a set script. But it’s clear that the sports icon was prepared and hit his lines and shots (the script called for him to rev up the crowd with some basketball theatrics) with nuclear-clock precision. Wearing a blue cardigan and white sneakers, James was there to deliver. On the Trainwreck set, the heat can’t touch him.

Many critics agreed. The Business Insider called LeBron James a pretty good actor.

LeBron James is certainly not the first or last professional sports star to be cast in a movie. But he’s one of the few who can actually act.

LeBron James may just be extremely talented on and off the court. Universal’s ‘Trainwreck’ opened Thursday night and is expected to make $30 million.
