‘Captain America 3’ To Start Filming in Atlanta this April

Date:

Captain America 3‘ will film this April in Atlanta, Georgia.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier started 2014 as one of the most watched movies in history. ‘Captain America 2’ held the record for the highest grossing box-office movie until Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘ was well liked by critics and comic book fans. Many attribute the success of ‘Captain America‘ to the directors Anthony and Joe Russo. According to recent reports, the brothers have decided to return to direct the next sequel, Captain America 3.

Despite the movie’s May 6, 2016 release date being two years away, Hollywood is excited to get started on prodution for the next Marvel Studios movie once they finish filming Ant-Man.

According to , Captain America 3 will start filming this April in Atlanta, Georgia. The feature film will most likely film in the newly built Pinewood Studios.

The last one shot in Cleveland and I know they’re shooting Ant-Man in Atlanta, so is it an all-Atlanta shoot?

ANTHONY RUSSO: No it’s not an all-Atlanta shoot, it’s a lot of stage work in Atlanta.  There’s other locations that are also involved that I don’t think we can get into.

JOE RUSSO: Typically you go to Atlanta, you do your stage work, and then move on to locations after that.  So there’s various locations.

In the last five years, Georgia’s film industry has exploded. Several franchise films have filmed in Georgia including The Hunger Games, The Divergent Series, and Dumb and Dumberer. The announcement for Captain America 3 to film in Atlanta comes only days after North Carolina pulled the plug on their film and TV tax incentives for major productions.

Currently, Georgia provides a 30% tax incentive to major motion pictures and TV shows that spend over $500,000 in Georgia and it looks as though Georgia plans on expanding their incentives in the next couple of months.

The film industry is Georgia’s fastest growing industry. Over 30,000 people are employed by the state’s film industry and it looks like the number will continue to grow with reports of several new film studios and career programs in development in Georgia.
