Two Arrested For Game of Thrones Casting Scam
Two men have been arrested for allegedly scamming money from aspiring actors interested in a small role on the hit HBO series ‘Game of Thrones‘.
We recently reported that some of the filming of the hit drama, ‘Game of Thrones‘ was going to take place in Seville, Spain. Within 24 hours more than 10,000 people had applied to be extras in the TV series.

Scam artists noticed the opportunity and took advantage of it. Two men set up a fake website claiming to be the official Spanish casting company's site and aspiring actors were instructed to call a premium-rate telephone number to make their application. The callers were kept on hold several minutes and charged before given the real casting address. The men were able to make $134k a week, according to police.

A spokesperson said, “The fraudsters, who are based in Ibiza, created a website almost identical to the genuine Game of Thrones site… given the success of the series and the excitement over the forthcoming filming of some episodes in Seville, the number of calls received was very high. It was the perfect hook for a big scam.”
