Innovative Strategy Unveiled to Promote Peacock’s ‘Killing It’ Amid Ongoing Strike

Date:

In anticipation of the eagerly awaited return of Peacock’s hit show, ‘Killing It,’ NBCUniversal is employing innovative methods to generate buzz, as lead actor Craig Robinson remains restricted from promotional activities due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

In an exciting announcement on Monday, NBCUniversal revealed that the first trio of episodes from the show’s debut season, created by the talented minds behind ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ can now be enjoyed for free on prominent platforms like YouTube and TikTok. Additionally, USA Network is set to broadcast the initial two episodes of the series this Monday, immediately following the highly-rated WWE Monday Night Raw.

This strategic endeavor to bring ‘Killing It’ into the spotlight is part of a more extensive approach that NBCUniversal and other major media conglomerates are adopting. This approach enables the promotion of fresh and returning scripted shows, even when their central stars cannot engage in promotional activities, like voicing their support through social media posts, due to the ongoing performers’ strike against prominent studios and streaming services. In contrast, some networks and streaming platforms have postponed the original content’s premiere dates, hoping for the conclusion of Hollywood’s first dual strike since 1960. This would allow both stars and writers to market their creative works effectively.

While this is not the maiden instance of a Peacock series being aired on the USA Network, it does mark a unique and intriguing strategy. In the case of ‘Killing It,’ Peacock had already invested resources into promoting the show and consequently opted against delaying its much-anticipated return. Instead, the show, featuring Robinson in front of and behind the camera, will leverage NBCUniversal’s extensive portfolio and broad viewership, including those who eagerly tune in for live wrestling events.

Co-created and co-show run by Dan Goor and Luke Tredici, the show stars Claudia O’Doherty and Rell Battle alongside Robinson. The second season, boasting eight compelling episodes, is set to premiere exclusively on Peacock on August 17th, capturing the audience’s attention again with its captivating storytelling and comedic brilliance.
