Ascent Studios: New production studio is coming to North Carolina

Date:

Ascent Studios Builds the Largest Film Studio in North Carolina, Attracting Productions with Tax Incentives and Sustainable Practices

Ascent Studios is gearing up to launch a massive movie studio project in Spring Hope, North Carolina, that is set to become the largest film studio in the state upon completion in late 2023. The production facility, which will span 200 acres, will feature five production stages totaling 170,000 square feet, giving filmmakers ample space to bring their creative visions to life.

Located just a short drive from Raleigh, Ascent Studios will be more than just a film studio. It will be a creative hub, providing a space for artists to come together and collaborate on new and exciting projects. According to filmmaker and co-founder Rob Rippberger, “We can’t wait to see what amazing work will come out of here.”

Ascent Studios is committed to sustainability, much like its sister studio, Foliascope Studios, which Rippberger helped create in France. The France-based facility is now the largest stop-motion studio in Europe. Ascent Studios will follow in its footsteps, incorporating green practices for sustainability.

Filmmakers who use Ascent Studios will benefit from a 25% tax rebate on qualifying expenses and purchases, funded by the North Carolina Film and Entertainment Grant. This incentive will surely attract a steady stream of productions to the state, which already boasts a thriving film industry.

The facility’s interior space and state-of-the-art technology will make it an ideal location for all types of production. Moreover, the studio’s picturesque exteriors, which include fields, forests, and lakes, will provide a stunning backdrop for filmmakers seeking to create a naturalistic setting.

Ascent Studios has already lined up two exciting productions: Renner, a sci-fi thriller directed by Rippberger, which is set to begin filming this spring, and a second thriller in the genre space, which will be announced soon.

North Carolina has been home to numerous film productions in recent years, with its diverse landscapes, experienced crew, and attractive tax incentives making it a beautiful location for filmmakers. With the opening of Ascent Studios, the state’s film industry is poised to experience even greater growth and success.
