‘Stranger Things’ Shoot Delayed By the Strike Impacting Georgia’s Film Industry

Date:

The filming of Netflix’sStranger Things‘ has been postponed due to a strike. This is because the writing process continues even after filming has started.

The Duffer brothers, who are the showrunners for “Stranger Things,” revealed on Saturday that the Hollywood writers’ strike had caused a delay in the production of the show’s fifth and final season on Netflix. The Writers Guild of America members are demanding payment improvement, streaming content royalties, and increased contributions to the union’s health and pension plan.

The Twitter account for the “Stranger Things” writers’ room shows that the writing process continues even after filming has started.

“While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is impossible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all return to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong.”

“The strike has impacted several film and television projects, including “Stranger Things,” “Blade” by Marvel Studios, “Loot” by Apple TV, “Saturday Night Live” by NBC, “The Talk” by CBS, and several late-night talk shows, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter.

According to Deadline, despite the strike, Amazon’s “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” and HBO’s “House of the Dragon” are still filming in the UK. This is possible because they had prepared scripts in advance. Many people are concerned about how productions without on on-set-set writers will manage rewrites, writes, and other story modifications.

The Duffer brothers announced in February 2022 that the fifth “Stranger Things” season would be its final season. The show, which has won an Emmy for its sci-fi storyline, stars Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, and Millie Bobby Brown as a group of kids fighting against a supernatural presence in their 1980s town.

“We hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down,” the Duffer brothers said at the time.

“As always, we are grateful for your patience and support.”
