Jeremy Renner Delivers Chilling Account of Injuries After Surviving Snowplow Collision in First Post-Accident Interview
In Jeremy Renner’s initial post-accident sit-down with Diane Sawyer, the actor courageously recounts his extensive and harrowing injuries following a near-fatal incident involving a snowplow. Tune in as he describes what exactly transpired that fateful day.
Inviting Sawyer into his abode, the Marvel actor begins their discussion by letting her know he’s “just got upright yesterday.” Just ten weeks before the interview, he had been struck by a 14,000 lbs snow plow. Renner remembers the nerve-wracking episode and his desperate attempt to regain control of the car as it sped toward hitting his beloved nephew. His Nevada property was the site of a horrific accident that left him with 30 broken bones, including eight ribs and his right shoulder and knee. He also sustained severe internal injuries such as a pierced liver and collapsed lung.
Initially, Renner was unconvinced of his capability to recuperate. Although he overcame the ordeal, he couldn’t help but wonder what his life and body would be like once recovery was complete. “Am I just going to be like a spine and a brain like a science experiment?” In the hospital, he confided in Sawyer that he had authored farewell notes to his family members and intimated that, at times, it seemed unlikely for him to pull through. Despite the traumatic accident, Renner is remarkably in high spirits during his recovery process. “I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience. But I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.” Look at both the clips above and below to get an idea of what’s in store.
