Lionsgate unveils a $200 million movie studio in Atlanta to create an expansive production hub.
Lionsgate is taking the initiative to create a production center in Atlanta, thus intensifying its movie and television production output.
On April 4, Lionsgate announced that the company would be the lead tenant in a new $200 million studio complex set across 40 acres of Atlanta land – slated to launch later this year. Lionsgate is teaming up again with Robert Halmi’s Great Point Studios to create the highly anticipated Lionsgate Studios Atlanta in Douglas County, where The Hunger Games series was filmed.
“Lionsgate Studios Atlanta becomes our third state-of-the-art production complex with proximity to a major metropolitan area, allowing us to continue to scale our film and television production operations, create hundreds of local jobs and invest in regional economic growth,” Gary Goodman, the highly esteemed executive vice president of television production at Lionsgate, declared.
With 500,000 square feet of production space across 12 soundstages and lots of office and support area, the proposed Atlanta facility will surely be an impressive addition! Halmi, President, and CEO of Hallmark Entertainment, and Fehmi Zeko proudly run Great Point – a media-focused investment fund that will own and operate the studio complex.
Lionsgate provides state-of-the-art studio facilities in Yonkers, New York, just 20 minutes away from Manhattan, and its soon-to-be-launched Newark facility with Great Point as the anchor tenant. Great Point Studios have partnered with an affiliate of the private investment firm Lindsay Goldberg to establish a brand-new production facility in Atlanta.
By creating content for its movie and TV studio branches, Lionsgate has been able to align itself with the Starz premium streaming platform.
