Rachel Hilson will be taking the lead in J.J. Abrams, and LaToya Morgan’s action-packed series ‘Duster’ after HBO Max officially orders its production!
Rachel Hilson is teaming up with Josh Holloway for J.J Abrams and LaToya Morgan’s Duster, an epic period drama that HBO Max has officially ordered!
When it was first announced, the project gained momentum when Kevin Reilly, then-HBO Max Chief Content Officer, gave it a series order. Since then, this project has been in progress and on its way to completion. I ended up with a sustainable development plan. The series was recently ordered, and filming a pilot episode has been completed. This new show remains active in active development.
Hilson is set to play Nina, the pioneering Black female FBI agent of 1972, in a new movie. She teams up with Holloway’s character — an intrepid getaway driver — as they launch an ambitious mission to take down a burgeoning crime ring in the Southwest.
An all-star cast including Keith David, Sydney Elisabeth, Greg Grunberg, Camille Guaty, Asivak Koostachin, Adriana Aluna Martinez, and Benjamin Charles Watson add further appeal to this moving tale.
Hilson earned a name for herself through her riveting performance in Hulu’s beloved teen drama Love, Victor. Before that, she was featured on CBS’ The Good Wife, NBC’s Rise, and This Is Us, respectively.
Warner Bros. Television presents an enthralling eight-part series, sure to captivate viewers! Abrams and Morgan crafted the initial two episodes, guided by Steph Green’s direction. Bad Robot, in collaboration with Warner Bros., is pleased to announce that the trio will produce executive alongside Rachel Rusch Rich. Through TinkerToy Productions, Morgan serves as an executive producer for Discovery and WBTV.
Abrams’ Warner Bros. Discovery partnership has been heavily scrutinized for the past year. Despite the massive budget of his series Demimonde, HBO decided to cut it due to budgetary concerns. Constantine and Madame X, two other projects he was developing with them, were also rejected by HBO Max. Netflix snatched the rights to the Shining spinoff, Overlook, from HBO Max. This new series is sure to be a hit! After four successful seasons on HBO, Westworld was sadly canceled. Similarly, Apple TV+’s My Glory Was I Had Such Friends lost its lead Jennifer Garner and subsequently met the same fate.
Bad Robot is currently developing a U2 biopic series for Netflix, Presumed Innocent, and a live-action reboot of Speed Racer at Apple.
Abrams proclaimed, “LaToya and I are thrilled at the chance to bring the wild, wily and wacky world of Duster to life, especially with this exceptional cast, crew, and network.”
Morgan declared, “Duster is an amalgam of all my favorite things – high-octane storytelling with deep characters and so much heart. And I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in crime than J.J. to build this incredible world.

Abrams is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer; Morgan has Eclipse Law to handle their affairs, and Hilson is taken care of by Neon Kite as well as CAA with Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher joining the team too.
