Oscar Nominations 2023: Complete List of Nominees

Date:

On Tuesday, when Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams announced the nominations for the 95th Oscars, motion picture fans were delighted as this year’s competition is one of the most compelling they’ve seen in a while.

Whether you’re a movie buff or simply looking for some entertainment, the 2021 Oscars has something to offer everyone. Two popular films—Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: The Way of Water—have both grossed over one billion dollars at the box office! Plus, audiences will be able to witness celebrities like Rihanna and Lady Gaga perform their respective Oscar-nominated songs from Wakanda Forever and Top Gun: Maverick. With all these exciting additions, this year’s Academy Awards should enjoy greater viewership than ever – especially in light of our pandemic-ridden circumstances! A fierce competition awaits this year’s nominees, led by the legendary Diane Warren, who is again up for an award with Tell It Like A Woman. Additionally, there will be a chance to take home the trophy with RRR’s rousing theme and Talking Heads leader David Byrne in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Cheering for the underdog is a feeling that resonates with many, and this year’s Academy Award nominations have certainly delivered. Brian Tyree Henry was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Causeway, while fans of Andrea Riseborough were rewarded with her nomination for Best Actress in Leslie following an impressive grassroots campaign by industry admirers who had seen her performance in the film. Furthermore, fifteen major category nominees are first-timers – making it a particularly exciting award season!

A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once is also a surprise contender, with an impressive 11 nominees. This includes Ke Huy Quan, who began his career as Short Round in Indiana Jones and has now earned this historic nomination moment alongside co-star Michelle Yeoh, who made history by becoming the first Asian actress ever nominated for Best Actress in a role that was initially written for Jackie Chan by writer/directors Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert. Coming in close behind with nine nominations each, Searchlight’s surreal Irish yarn The Banshees of Inisherin and Netflix’s resurrection of one of the earliest war films to ever be adapted for the screen, All Quiet on the Western Front. This timeless story was brought to life in 1930, resulting in two Academy Award victories!

The final round of voting for the Academy Awards is open from March 2nd-7th, and the award show will take place on Sunday, March 12, at the Dolby Theater with Jimmy Kimmel as its host. This highly anticipated event will air live on ABC.
