The 2023 comedy, based on the 1967 romantic comedy “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” stars Jonah Hill and Kenya Barris. The movie follows a young couple trying to deal with each other’s families and cultures while facing generational differences.

Barris makes his directorial debut with the film after creating and show-running the series “black-ish,” while also writing the scripts for the movie “Coming 2 America,” “Shaft,” and “The Witches.

In this short teaser, Hill tries to explain to Eddie Murphy why he and Murphy’s daughter are a good match but ends up saying many offensive things.

Lauren London portrays Hill’s girlfriend, while an ensemble cast includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Duchovny, Nia Long, and Sam Jay fills out the rest of the movie. Elliott Gould, Travis Bennett, Molly Gordon, and Rhea Perlman are also in the film, along with Deon Cole, Andrea Savage, Mike Epps, and Emily Arlook. Alani La La Anthony Bryan Greenberg also has roles in the movie.

Though he had a supporting role in Netflix’s comedy “Don’t Look Up” last year, this is Hill’s first onscreen leading role since 2018. That year, he starred in the Netflix series “Maniac” and Gus Van Sant’s film “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot,” as well as writing the screenplay for his feature directorial debut in “Mid90s.”

Following the release of his Prime Video sequel “Coming 2 America” in 2021 and his well-received role in the 2019 Netflix film “Dolemite Is My Name,” Murphy is readying for the debut of “You People.”

“You People” is a film produced by Hill and Barris alongside Kevin Misher. The executive producers are David Hyman, Matt Dines, Hale Rothstein, Alison Goodwin, Mychelle Deschamps, Andy Berman, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster.
