Netflix’s ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Is Returning For A Third Season in October 2022.
Unsolved Mysteries is an American true crime documentary television show, created by John Cosgrove and Terry Meurer. Narrated by Robert Stack from its inception in 1987 until his death in 2003, and subsequently by Dennis Farina from 2003 to 2010, the program was created as a series of specials, but became a regular part of NBC’s schedule in 1988. The show was broadcast on NBC, CBS, Lifetime, and Spike and featured re-enactments (with actors playing the roles of the original participants) of unsolved crimes, missing persons cases, conspiracy theories and unexplained paranormal phenomena (stories often abbreviated as “UF”).
Although the show often shared similar stories with other true crime shows, Unsolved Mysteries was distinctive in its approach, often eschewing the “whodunit” format in favor of open-ended questions and stories that were more (in the words of series creator John Cosgrove) “haunting than horrifying.” The program frequently featured interviews with witnesses, family members and law enforcement officials connected to the cases, and tips from viewers led to the identification of several fugitives featured on the show.
In May 2008, Cosgrove and Meurer announced that they were “shopping” the show to networks other than Spike; the series ran on Spike until its cancellation in 2010. In February 2010, Lifetime announced that it had acquired the rights to the show, and that new episodes would begin airing on the network later in the year. The show was revived once again in 2017 by Netflix.
The third season of Unsolved Mysteries is coming soon to Netflix.

According to the streamer, the upcoming season will have a “three-week event” in which a new episode will be released weekly. It’s also unclear if this quantity will only include three episodes, as the previous two volumes had six episodes each. Netflix did not reveal the topics, but they strongly suggested that “even darker and deeper mysteries” would be explored and “even more mysterious disappearances and baffling — possibly supernatural — phenomena.”
The series’ reboot aired in October 2020, exploring mysteries from various parts of the world, such as Japan and Oslo.
Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3 will premiere on Netflix on October 25, with each week’s episode premiering the following week.
