‘House of Dragon’ Critics Call Say It’s Better than ‘Game of Thrones’

Date:

“House of the Dragon” Is Called Excellent By Many, With Initial Reactions Calling It “Better Than’ Game Of Thrones‘ And ‘Breaking Bad’

Later this month, the sequel debuts on HBO Max.

With just a few weeks until the series premiere on HBO Max, Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon hosted a preview screening for members of the press and early reactions are fantastic. Following the anti-climatic conclusion to Game of Thrones, many of the original program’s followers remain unconvinced about the new prequel. However, it now appears like HBO and George R.R. Martin have recovered from their initial blunder and produced a series that is even greater than its predecessor.

According to Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub, “I did not like the last season of Game of Thrones. At all. But I’ll admit the series premiere of House of the Dragon is really well done and I’ll continue watching.” At the same time, Indiewire called it “better than GoT & Breaking Bad.” The Wrap’s Brandon Katz wrote: “The House of the Dragon pilot very efficiently explains its context in relation to GoT, introduces its core characters, and lays out the central conflict of the series. It’s an easy-to-follow premiere with vibrant colors and detailed texture. Absolutely a worthy successor so far.”
