Interviewing on a Commercial Tips

When you’re interviewing for a commercial, it’s important to remember that the people who will be watching the commercials are the general public. It means that you need to be able to connect with them and make sure that they understand what you’re saying.

  1. Speak clearly and slowly. It may appear obvious, but it’s essential to keep in mind that not everyone speaks at the same speed as you do. If you speak quickly, people will have difficulty understanding you. If you speak too slowly, people may get bored and stop listening. Find a happy medium between the two extremes and stick with it.
  2. Use simple language. Again, this may seem obvious, but it’s important to remember that not everyone knows all the technical terms you might use in your industry. Keep your language simple and easy to understand so everyone can follow along.
  3. Be enthusiastic. It is your chance to sell whatever you’re promoting, so make sure you sound excited about it. If you say bored or disinterested, people will be less likely to want to buy what you’re selling.
  4. Smile. This one goes hand-in-hand with being enthusiastic. Smiling makes you look friendly and approachable, making people more likely to listen to what you have to say.
  5. Make eye contact. When speaking to someone, it’s essential to make eye contact so that they know you’re interested in what they have to say. It also makes you look more sincere and trustworthy.
  6. Dress for success. First impressions are essential, so make sure that you dress appropriately for the commercial. If you’re selling a product targeted toward a more casual audience, dress accordingly. However, if you’re selling something more formal, ensure that your clothing reflects that.
  7. Practice, practice, practice. Before you go into the commercial shoot, make sure you practice what you’re going to say ahead of time.
