Frank Ocean in Talks to Direct His First-Ever Feature Film with A24

Frank Ocean is in discussions to direct his first-ever feature film with A24.

The upcoming Frank Ocean movie is said to be known as ‘Philly’ inside the company.

Frank Ocean is reportedly in negotiations with A24 and Frank Ocean to write and direct his first-ever feature film, according to a news item from Discussing Film. Frank Ocean has collaborated with A24 previously, writing the foreword for Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight and providing soundtracks for Trey Shelts’ 2019 American drama film Waves.

While his upcoming film will be his first as a director, Ocean has expressed a passion for filmmaking in the past, with his 2016 musical visual album Endless, which he wrote and directed. According to reports, Frank Ocean is collaborating with young London-based production company 2AM on the movie, a young independent project that is backed and distributed by A24.

No additional information has been released to the public, although reports claim that Frank Ocean is considering New Mexico as a filming location and that the project is presently being referred to within the company as “Philly.”
