About the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a franchise of superhero films, initially based on characters in Marvel Comics publications. As the shared universe expanded to include other superhero properties, this brand has become the shared universe that unites audiences, with these films all being connected somehow. The films have been commercially successful as well as critically acclaimed. Marvel Cinematic Universe films have been nominated for two Academy Awards, one for Best Visual Effects and another for Best Original Song. Marvel’s The Avengers was the third highest-grossing film of all time when released in 2012, taking more than $1.5 billion worldwide within a week. Marvel has four releases this year: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 in May, Spider-Man: Homecoming in July, Thor: Ragnarok in November, and Marvel’s Not yet titled Avengers sequel to Marvel’s The Avengers in May 2018.
