The CW is planning a spinoff of the network's football-themed high school drama, All American.
According to Deadline, the project is reportedly in its early stages. According to reports, the pitch for the spinoff is to center on the character of Simone Hicks, who is played by Geffri Maya. The potential spinoff would be introduced in an episode of All American's third season and would center around Simone as she attends a Historically Black College. Simone, a Beverly High senior, plays the girlfriend of Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling).
The CW and Warner Bros. are also working on a potential spinoff of Black Lightning, which will originate as a pilot on the original series.
Season 2 of All American showed Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), who is not a football state champion, who is forced to make a difficult decision — Does he move back to South Los Angeles and reunite with his mother, and brother, and play for his father? Or, does he stay in Beverly Hills and play for Coach Billy Baker?
