Weeks before the movie is to be released Colin Firth Drops Out of ‘Paddington Bear’ Movie.
Paddington Bear seemed like a movie that was ready for release. ‘Paddington Bear‘ has a full trailer and even inspired a meme. It is set to release in just six months. Right about the time when the studio is worrying about marketing, Weinstein Company and Dimension now have a wrench thrown into their plan. Colin Firth has abruptly dropped out as the voice of Paddington.
Which is surprising. Voice Over acting is not one of the most difficult jobs in the entertainment industry. An actor can sit down for a few days and work and collect a paycheck. But, it is surprising that he blames the whole situation on scheduling.
The film, based on Michael Bond’s beloved children’s book about the misadventures of a Peruvian bear, is still slated for release on Christmas Day in the U.S. by The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films. The release date will not be affected, and the search is on for a replacement.
“It’s been bittersweet to see this delightful creature take shape and come to the sad realization that he simply doesn’t have my voice,” the actor said in a statement. “I’ve had the joy of seeing most of the film and it’s going to be quite wonderful. I still feel rather protective of this bear and I’m pestering them all with suggestions for finding a voice worthy of him.” [THR]
It is probably due to an artistic decision.
