How to Get Cast in Josh Brolin’s ‘Weapons’

Date:

‘Weapons’ starring Josh Brolin is now casting in Atlanta, Georgia.

About ‘Weapons’

In exciting news for horror enthusiasts, Josh Brolin is in talks to lead the cast of Weapons, a highly anticipated New Line horror thriller from filmmaker Zach Cregger. This film marks Cregger’s follow-up to his successful 2022 horror hit Barbarian. The production of Weapons faced delays due to the dual writers’ and actors’ strikes, which caused it to miss its initial fall 2023 start date. This delay led to a scheduling conflict with the film’s previous star, Pedro Pascal, who had to bow out due to his commitments to the Fantastic Four reboot set to shoot this summer.

Zach Cregger, who also penned the top-secret script for Weapons, has described the film as an interrelated, multistory horror epic. It is said to be tonally similar to Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1999 ensemble drama Magnolia, which featured a star-studded cast and interwoven narratives. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the comparison to Magnolia suggests a complex, character-driven horror experience.

The production of Weapons will reunite Cregger with the producing team behind Barbarian. Cregger himself will produce alongside Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon is also on board as a producer, ensuring a strong creative team backing the project.

Landing Josh Brolin for the lead role would be a significant achievement for Weapons. Known for his discerning choice of roles and directors, Brolin’s potential involvement signals a high level of quality and intrigue for the film. Though Brolin has an extensive filmography that includes sci-fi and comic book movies, Weapons would mark his first foray into the horror genre.

Brolin’s career is currently on a high note with several notable projects. He is set to appear in Denis Villeneuve’s star-studded sci-fi sequel Dune: Part Two, reprising his role as the formidable war master Gurney Halleck. The film is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. and Legendary on March 1. Additionally, Brolin stars in Amazon’s neo-Western sci-fi series Outer Range, with the new season debuting in May. In this series, Brolin not only acts but also serves as an executive producer and has even directed a few episodes.

Represented by CAA and Johnson Shapiro, Brolin continues to be a powerhouse in the entertainment industry, making his potential involvement in Weapons all the more exciting for fans and critics alike.

As Weapons moves closer to production, anticipation builds for what promises to be a unique and thrilling addition to the horror genre. With Zach Cregger’s creative vision and the possible star power of Josh Brolin, Weapons is poised to become a standout horror film in the coming years. Stay tuned for more updates as this project develops.
