Are you looking for a job? Apple is now hiring.
On Thursday, Apple said they would be building a new $1 billion campus in Austin, Texas, where they could eventually hire 15,000 people, as the company plans on creating thousands of jobs across multiple American cities. The company has 90,000 workers in the United States and also plans to open 1,000 worker operations in San Diego, Seattle and Culver City, California and hire hundreds of employees in New York, Pittsburgh and Boulder, Colorado in the next three years.
“Apple is proud to bring new investment, jobs, and opportunity to cities across the United States and to significantly deepen our quarter-century partnership with the city and people of Austin,” Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, said in a statement.
This news comes after Apple announced the launch of Apple’s new video streaming application. Beginning in 2016, Apple began to produce and distribute its original content. The first program created by Apple was Planet of the Apps, a reality competition series. The second series was Carpool Karaoke: The Series, which was based on the famous segment from The Late Late Show with James Corden.
By November 2017, Apple confirmed that it was branching out into original scripted shows including Amazing Stories, a Georgia-filmed production based on Steven Spielberg’s previous presentation of the same name, and a new drama series starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
Apple is reportedly planning on spending around $1 billion on original programming in the next few years. More recently, it has been projected Apple will pay about $4.2 billion on original programming by 2022. Apple’s upcoming programming will reportedly debut between March and the summer of 2019.
Due to Apple’s push into original programming, the tech giant is now hiring several jobs and looking for aspiring filmmakers and those experienced in the entertainment industry to join the company.
