Production is ramping up for American Horror Story as Producers are currently looking for individuals to fill various crew positions for the third season of FX’s American Horror Story.
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy recently discussed that the third installment of the FX frightfest would be subtitled Coven.
He also confirmed that the new season will film, in part, in New Orleans. And while it’s obvious that witches figure into AHS: Coven, Murphy indicated that the show will once again conjure up a melange of scary themes. “It’s about a lot of things,” he said.
As for the setting, Murphy reiterated that the narrative will take place in multiple cities, and that this marks the first year the show will go on the road and shoot on location.
When approaching Season 3, Murphy said, “The fun thing is researching what are the really haunted places in America, and we have a couple doozy locales (TVLine).”
The American Horror Story players will be joined by Kathy Bates, another Academy Award-winning actress, who’s character, according to Murphy is,”five times worse than her character in Misery.” If you’ve seen the adaptation of the Stephen King novel, then you know just how nasty that promises to be. Bates is set to play the frenemy (one time friend, now nemesis) of Lange’s character.
American Horror Story is a horror genre television franchise created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Described as ananthology series, each season is conceived as a self-contained miniseries, following a disparate set of characters and settings, and a storyline with its own “beginning, middle, and end”.
The first season, subsequently re-titled American Horror Story: Murder House, takes place in the present day and follows the story of a family that moves into a home haunted by its former occupants. The second season, titled American Horror Story: Asylum, takes place in 1964 and follows the stories of the inhabitants of an institution for the criminally insane. The upcoming third season will be titled American Horror Story: Coven.
The series is broadcast on the cable television channel FX in the United States. The first season premiered on October 5, 2011, and concluded on December 21, 2011. The second season premiered on October 17, 2012 and concluded on January 23, 2013. The third season is scheduled to premiere in October 2013 and to conclude in January 2014.
American Horror Story has been well received by television critics. The repertory cast has been generally praised, particularly Jessica Lange, who received the Emmy Award, the Golden Globe Award, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance. The series draws consistently high ratings for the FX network, with its first season being the biggest new cable series of 2011.
