About Thirteen Reasons Why:
According to Deadline, the new series Thirteen Reasons Why is the new Selena Gomez TV series for Netflix. The series was created and written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Brian Yorkey. The show follows a boy named Clay after he receives a shoe box of cassette tapes from his late classmate and crush Hannah, after she recently committed suicide. On the tapes, which are mailed with instructions to pass along from one student to another, Hannah explains to 12 peers how they each played a role in her death, by giving 13 reasons explaining why she took her life.
Selena Gomez is co-producing alongside her mother Mandy. She opened up to Variety about the experience, saying: “She’s got incredible taste in a weird, cool way. Four or five years ago, she found this book and fell in love with it. I think I was still in high school. Now we’re here. We took our time with it.”

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
“THIRTEEN REASONS WHY,” based on the award-winning young adult novel by Jay Asher, is the story of Hannah Baker, a high school student who commits suicide, and leaves behind thirteen tapes as her suicide note. It’s also the story of Clay Jensen, the boy who loved her but could never tell her, who receives the thirteen tapes and sets out to understand why Hannah made her tragic choice.
