‘Free in Deed’ Open Casting Call for Several Speaking Roles and Production Crew Members in Memphis, Tennessee

Date:

Open Casting Call for Production and Speaking Roles in Memphis, Tennessee

“Free in Deed,” an official client of the Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission, is looking for professional production crew members and cast.

The low-budget indie feature film is based on a true story about the struggles of a young single mother without resources and the trials and tribulations of a man of faith and his church community who together attempt to heal her 8-year-old autistic son. Now casting directors and producers are seeking crew members and actors to fill various roles in the upcoming production. It stars David Harewood better known for his role on “Homeland”. It also features Edwina Findley of “Treme” and “The Wire”.

Writer-director Jake Mahaffy wants to cast locals in the other roles, including people without acting experience.

GoMemphis quotes producer Mike Bowe about why Memphis was chosen. “This is a place that’s known for soul, and that’s what we need, is that soul,” he said.

“Ecstatic prayer and worship is not the kind of thing you can get a group of actors to emulate convincingly.”

Production takes place from the end of January through February.
