With 18.4 million viewers, ‘Game of Thrones' is HBO's Most Watched Series Ever
George R.R. Martin‘s mythological characters, ‘Game of Thrones‘ wins the award for the most watched series on HBO history.
HBO's award winning series averages around 18.4 million viewers across all platforms beating the 2002 season of The Sopranos which held around 18.2 million viewers per episode.
There are two more episodes left in the season of ‘Game of Thrones‘ which has increased the number of average viewers from last season to an addition 4 million people. The season finale is on June 15th and HBO has already renewed the show for a fifth and sixth season.
Now, in comparison to one of the most watched TV series on television, AMC's ‘The Walking Dead‘, ‘Game of Thrones‘ is not that far off.
And look at The Walking Dead. TV's gold standard, thanks to its dominance among adults 18-49 (peripheral info to ad-free HBO), currently ranks as cable's most watched television series. The recent season averaged 18.4 million viewers in live-plus-7, placing another record well within Game of Thrones‘ sights. [via]
‘Game of Thrones‘ is closing the gap to ‘The Walking Dead‘ and they are an additional cable service.
With two episodes left this season, ‘The Walking Dead‘ will have to worry about more than just zombies in their next season.
