Auditions for lead roles for a N.W.A. Biopic – “Straight Outta Compton” are currently being scheduled and casting directors are currently seeking actors to play lead roles in the upcoming motion picture. The “Straight Outta Compton” is produced by Ice Cube and will be directed by F. Gary Gray. Producers have decided to hold open auditions to aspiring actors who can realistically portray the members of N.W.A. when they were teens and young adults.
F. Gary Gray previously worked on “The Italian Job” now his upcoming project “Straight Outta Compton” will illustrate the rise of one of the most influential rap groups to ever hit mainstream radios across the countries, N.W.A.
N.W.A. is the group that gave rise to greats such as Easy- E, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube. Now, the film directors are looking for aspiring actors who can effectively act and portray these rap icons when they were part of N.W.A.
So can you rap? Do you look like a young Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy E, Yella or MC Ren? If you do, here is your chance.
“Straight Outta Compton” casting call has been released several months ago, but casting for this project is still ongoing after a rough pre-production start according to Cinemablend. But, according to Kim Coleman’s Twitter @KTC_Casting she is still reviewing actors information for the upcoming motion picture.
Roles
[ EAZY-E (ERIC WRIGHT) ]
African American, 21, A streetwise and business savvy dope dealer
turned rapper/record producer/business owner. Small in stature but
with a big heart, big dreams and big ideas. Created NWA with Dr. Dre
by gathering a group of talented contemporaries with similar street
backgrounds. Argumentative, secretive and always the hustler. Known
more for his sheer bravado than actual rapping skill, he made it
happen. (LEAD)
[ ICE CUBE (O’SHEA JACKSON) ]
African American, 18, a smart burly kid with a gift for gab and an ear
for rhymes. He was the brains behind most of the lyrics that
eventually changed the world of rap. A hard hitting writer who was
skeptical of Eazy- E’s and Jerry Heller’s business practices. Arrogant
and outspoken but charming as well. Smart and more of a counter
puncher than a troublemaker. Headstrong and determined to do things
his way on his terms. (LEAD)
[ DR. DRE (ANDRE YOUNG) ]
African American, 19, a tall cool experienced record pro when he
joined NWA. Was already a hood celebrity. Had clout in the
neighborhood and credibility in the clubs. He knew his way around the
studio. The engine of the group and molded their overall sound. He was
always willing to experiment in order to stay ahead of the game. One
of the architects of the West Coast sound. Just wanted to make music
above everything else. Was the glue that brought everyone together.
(LEAD)
[ MC REN (LORENZO PATTERSON) ]
African American, 18, A co-writer of the lyrics on Straight Outta
Compton. A running mate and friend of Eazy- E. Took over bulk of lyric
writing after Ice Cube departed. (LEAD)
[ DJ YELLA (ANTOINE CARRABY) ]
African American, 20, Another local DJ who worked the same clubs as
Dr. Dre. He co-produced the debut album with Dre. Went on to direct
hundreds of films in the adult film industry. (LEAD)

[ JERRY HELLER ]
45, A savvy experienced rock and roll manager who always got the best
deal he could for himself and his acts. A little past his prime, and
some would say somewhat of an ambulance chaser. Hooked up with Eazy-E
to create Ruthless Records. Became very close to Eazy-E and almost
acted as a father figure. His relationship with Eazy-E was always a
source of dissension within the group.
STORY LINE: A gritty no holds barred look at the historic rap group
NWA – from their Compton roots, through their groundbreaking success,
to their eventual break-up. Part celebration and part cautionary tale
– a story that reflects all of the anger, violence and insanity of the
