One of the biggest plays to hit Broadway in the last decade is holding an open casting call for actors and singers to appear in Hamilton.
Hamilton has posted an open casting call on their website, seeking performers for the current Broadway company and upcoming national tour.
If you are an extremely skilled rapper, singer and actor, and are interested in being considered for our show, please send an email to:casting@hamiltonbroadway.com,” reads the notice on the website.
According to the casting call breakdown, performers who wish to be considered are asked to includea video via an unlisted YouTube link or Vimeo that includes: “a brief (under 1 minute) pop/rock song that shows your vocal range and a brief rap (under 1 minute) that shows your skill level.” The notice asks that a piano accompany the piece.
The Broadway musical was critically acclaimed and centers around the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, which opened on August 6th at the Richard Rodgers Theater.
Marilyn Stasio, in her review of the Off-Broadway production for Variety, wrote: “The music is exhilarating, but the lyrics are the big surprise. The sense as well as the sound of the sung dialogue has been purposely suited to each character. George Washington, a stately figure in Jackson’s dignified performance, sings in polished prose… But in the end, Miranda’s impassioned narrative of one man’s story becomes the collective narrative of a nation, a nation built by immigrants who occasionally need to be reminded where they came from.”
