[New Orleans]Old Boy is a action/drama/mystery/thriller about an everyday man that only has five days to figure out why he was improsoned in a room for 15 years without any explanation. The film is going to be a US remake of the original South Korean film, and is based on the comic book OldBoy. Spike Lee is scheduled to be the director of the film, and is working in association with Nobuaki Minegishi, the original writer of the manga series.

Old Boy is in production with with 40 Acres & a Mule Filmworks, Good Universe, Mandate Pictures, and Vertigo Entertainment.

OldBoy will feature Samule L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Josh Brolin, Sharlto Copley, and Michael J. Burg. But Spike Lee recently confirmed that he is still casting actors for various roles in the film.

Casting Specifics:

Wallace Sharkey Male, 60ish, Caucasian. Joe’s well-tailored, slickster boss.

Donna Hawthorne Female, Mid 20s, Caucasian. Joe’s ex-wife and mother of Mia. Once a homecoming queen, now a stripped down hardworking single mom.

Dave Berman Mid 40s to 50s. African-American. Shlubby, but very welthy businessman. Joe hits on his much younger girlfriend.

Casting Update

Mandate Pictures (Lionsgate) in association with Good Universe and 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks is currently gearing up to began shooting the action suspense thriller Old Boy, a US remake of the original South Korean film based on a comic book.

The story follows a man that only has 5 days to figure out why he was imprisoned in a room for 15 years without any explanation.

The film stars Josh Brolin, Samuel L. Jackson, Sharlto Copley, Elizabeth Olsen and Michael J. Burg. Spike Lee will direct. Shooting will begin in October in and around the New Orleans area.

Various roles are still being cast in the film. Specifically being sought are:*Young people between 15 and 21 years old to play prep school students. Girls are encouraged to wear a simple blouse, blazer and simple jewelry such as pearls and small hoop earrings. Boys should wear a white or blue button-down shirt, a dark tie and blazer.
*White-collar business types, wearing hair styles and clothes of the early 1990s.
*Upscale “uptowner” types, wearing hair styles and clothes of the early 1990s.
*Fitness instructors, specifically for yoga, aerobics and kickboxers.
*Female motorcyclist (only licensed drivers).
*”Regular” people, in present-day attire.
*Cars and trucks dating pre-1993.
