Marc Forster will direct ‘A Man Called Otto,’ an American comedy-drama film based on the book A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. It is the second time that the novel A Man Called Ove has been adapted for the screen; it was previously done in 2015 by Hannes Holm.
The film will star Tom Hanks as the titular figure, with Mariana Treviño, Rachel Keller, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Cameron Britton, and Mike Birbiglia among the cast.

Premise
After moving in, a moody retiree forms an unexpected bond with his attractive new neighbors.

Production
Tom Hanks joined the cast of A Man Called Ove, an adaptation of the 2016 Swedish film, in September 2017. The project was announced by Gary Goetzman, Rita Wilson, and Fredrik Wikström Nicastro of SF Studios.
In January 2022, Marc Forster was confirmed as the film’s director, with David Magee drafting the screenplay.
On February 10, 2022, It was reported that Sony Pictures had purchased the rights to the film for approximately $60 million in the European Film Market.
Filming
Filming began in February 2022 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is expected to wrap production in May 2022.
Release
It will be premiere on December 25, 2022.
