‘SOMNIA’ Short Film Casting Call for Lead Roles

Date:

A short film casting call for actors in Washington, D.C.

The short film casting directors are now casting actors to work on scenes filmed in DC/MD area between October 25-30, 2022.

Producers are now casting the following roles:

  • Clair (White)
    • A reserved, solemn, and wistful woman. Clair looks at her past with both fondness and sorrow, with both melancholy and gratitude. She carries herself with grace and remains unflustered by most people and situations. If the coven has a leader, Clair would reluctantly win that role due to the self-confidence she exudes. She is neither optimist nor pessimist, nor pragmatist; she has merely tempered her innerworld to find balance in an awe-exuding reality.
  • Blue (Blue)
    • The witches are eons old, but that does not prevent Blue from being young at heart. She makes a concentrated effort to maintain an inquisitive outlook, despite all she knows and has experienced. She approaches most of what goes on around her with a sincere interest to achieve understanding of all things. She is sensitive at times, but that sensitivity betrays the remarkable resilience she is capable of when tested.
  • Rouge (Red)
    • Rouge is a passionate woman, and that passion births the rebellious nature she is known for. She is not temperamental, though those who do not know her well may think so, considering how fervently she expresses her opinions over even some of the most trivial matters. She is deeply unsatisfied with the realities of the world, something that attributes to her disaffected nature. This demeanor may often mask the genuine concern she shares for those close to her.
  • June (Yellow)
    • June is the most self-critical of and doubtful of the coven. She asks questions not out of a desire for understanding, but because she would rather reveal her ignorance and correct any embarrassingly foolish thoughts than to speak them out loud. She lives in fear of being judged, despite being the harshest judge of herself. Perhaps the harshness she treats herself with worked to attract the horrifying dreams she experienced during the coven’s long slumber.
  • Vert (Green)
    • Vert is the most grounded of the witches, always adept at staying in the present moment. She exhibits a very neutral demeanor, accepting everything around her without question. This may make her seem vacant minded, even vapid at times. However, this outward appearance is merely a facade for a mind that is constantly working to assess and scrutinize what goes on around her. She is intelligent and knows it, which comes off as arrogance more often than not.

Short Film Acting Tips

Entering commercial acting can be a great way to break into the business. However, it’s essential to keep a few things in mind if you want to be successful.

  1. Be prepared—one of the most important things you can do when auditioning for commercials. Make sure you know your lines and are familiar with the material. You last want to be caught off guard during an audition.
  2. Dress the part. It’s important to dress appropriately for commercial auditions. Wear something appropriate for the type of product or service being advertised. You don’t want to look out of place or make a wrong impression on the casting director.
  3. Be confident. Confidence is vital when auditioning for anything, but it’s essential for commercials. Remember that you’re selling yourself as much as the product or service. The casting director wants to see that you’re confident and comfortable in front of the camera.
  4. Be natural. One of the worst things you can do during a commercial audition is to try to be someone you’re not. Be yourself. The casting director can tell if you’re being genuine or not.
  5. Have fun. Commercial auditions can be stressful, but it’s important to remember to have fun with them. Relax and enjoy the process.
