Nicknamed “The Intimidator” because of his hard-charging approach on the track. Wild in life and on the track. Married and divorced twice by 25. Disarming smile. Dies in tragic crash in 2001. 1980-2000

[LEE PETTY] 30s – White, Southern – Bakery truck driver who becomes NASCAR champion. Father of NASCAR legend Richard Petty. Quiet, serious, fiercely competitive. When pushed, he will push back harder. 1949-1959

[RICHARD PETTY] 20s – White, Southern – A mix of southern charmer, 60s hippie, and competitive shark. One of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. 1960-72

[DALE EARNHARDT JR] 20s – White, Southern – Smooth, loved by NASCAR fans. 2000s

[BILL FRANCE JR. (YOUNGER)] 30s – White, Southern – Loved racing as much as his dad. Soft-touch leader. Would try to build consensus before dropping the hammer. Master negotiator. Chain smoker. Late 60s

front of the cameras. Behind the good looks: an aggressive driver who lives to win. 1990s-present

[DARRELL WALTRIP] 40s – White, Southern – Successful racer rival of Richard Petty turned announcer. Brother of Michael Waltrip. 1980-2000

[BRIAN FRANCE] 30s – White, Southern – Heir to France NASCAR empire. Brings a modern, analytical edge to leading NASCAR. Understands the marketing side. Careful, methodical. 2000-present

[MICHAEL WALTRIP] 30s – White, Southern – Soft-spoken. NASCAR driver. Loved by everyone, lacked the sharpest competitive edge. Personality shaped by never coming in first place. 1990 – 2000
