Athlete Acting Tips

When it comes to commercial acting, athletes have a lot to offer. After all, they're used to being in the and performing under pressure. However, there are a few things to keep in mind if you want to transition from sports to commercials successfully.

Here are some tips for athlete-turned-commercial actors:

  1. Understand the difference between sports and acting. Acting is about telling a story and connecting with the , while sports are primarily about competition and winning. As an athlete, you're used to thinking about what you need to do to win, but in commercial acting, your focus needs to be on the customer and what they want or need.
  2. Be flexible. In sports, there's usually only one way to do things, but in acting, there are often multiple ways to approach a scene or commercial. As an athlete, you're used to working within strict guidelines, but in commercial acting, you'll need to be adaptable and willing to try different things.
  3. Study the script. In sports, you usually have a pretty good idea of what's going to happen, but in commercial acting, anything can happen. It's essential to study the script and familiarize yourself with the product or service you're promoting to be prepared for anything coming your way.
  4. Be natural. In sports, you're often required to put on a “game face” and be serious. But in commercial acting, it's essential to let your personality shine through. Be friendly and approachable so that the can connect with you on a personal level.
  5. Have fun. Commercials are meant to be entertaining, so don't take yourself too seriously. Enjoy the experience and let your personality shine through.
