Jack Nicholson goes above and beyond to get into character for the movie, The Shining.
The Shining was released in 1980 and it was a psychological horror film that shocked the nation. The Shining was directed by Stanley Kubrick and featured Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, and Scatman Crothers. The movie was based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel of the same name, however there were significant changes.

In The Shining, Jack Torrance, a writer and recovering alcoholic, takes an odd job caretaking at the isolated Overlook Hotel. While, his son possess psychic abilities and is able to see things from the past and future, including the ghosts who inhabit the hotel. Soon after settling in, the family is trapped in the hotel by a snowstorm, and Jack gradually becomes influenced by a supernatural presence, descends into madness, and ultimately attempts to murder his wife and son.
