“I have always been a fan of Clarke’s extraordinary Odyssey series, and certainly Kubrick’s adaptation of 2001. I am thrilled to be part of bringing that legacy to audiences and continuing the great cinematic tradition that this story and its creators deserve.” [via]
What made 2001: A Space Odyssey a great movie was mostly due to the director, Stanley Kubrick. Kubrick’s movies were noted for their unique cinematography, attention to detail, and realism. Kubrick also used a lot of evocative music in his movies to grab the audiences’ attention. He is also famous for being a demanding perfectionist, taking hours to create a scene by working extremely closely with his actors. Stanley Kubrick once asked Jack Nicholson to interpret what the script for The Shining might mean by the direction, “Jack is not working.” Nicholson suggested he be throwing a tennis ball against the walls of the hotel, which became a major part of the final film.
