Adult Swim Plans to Cast New Voice Actor for ‘Rick and Morty’ Season 7
In a recent announcement, Adult Swim revealed its intention to search for a new voice actor for the upcoming Season 7 of the top-rated animated series ‘Rick and Morty.’ This decision comes as they look to replace co-creator Justin Roiland, who previously voiced the intergalactic duo and various supporting characters.
The decision to find a new voice actor stems from Roiland’s involvement in legal issues related to domestic battery and false imprisonment charges. Consequently, Adult Swim and other projects associated with the filmmaker have chosen to sever ties with Roiland. It’s important to note that all charges against Roiland have been dismissed, but he will no longer be part of the voice cast for the Rick and Morty franchise.
During the Annecy International Festival in France, executive producer Steve Levy and Cartoon Network president Michael Ouweleen addressed the upcoming changes, shedding light on what fans can expect. Levy expressed confidence that the audience may have yet to notice the transition to the new voices, while Ouweleen drew a parallel to the evolution of voice actors for Bugs Bunny over the years.
Ouweleen shared his perspective, saying, “I admire the work of Jeff Bennett with [Bugs Bunny]. Although he isn’t Mel Blanc, we still recognize the character!”
Fans eagerly anticipate the release of Season 7 of Rick and Morty, along with an exciting anime project slated for later this year. Stay tuned for further updates in the coming months.
