Dune has received ten nominations for the 2022 Academy Awards, which were announced today.
The film will compete for best picture, best costume design, best sound, best original score, best-adapted screenplay, best film editing, and other categories.
The Power of the Dog leads the pack with a total of 12 nominations, including best picture, best director (Jane Campion), and acting nods for lead Benedict Cumberbatch and supporting performers Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Kirsten Dunst.
Beyoncé was nominated for best original song at the 88th Academy Awards, with “Be Alive” from King Richard as her debut. Meanwhile, Billie Eilish’s debut song “No Time to Die” for the James Bond film with the same name was nominated for a Golden Globe. Her brother Finneas O’Connell co-wrote it with her.
Spielberg has broken a record by becoming the first person in Oscars history to receive best director bids in six separate decades, with his most recent accolade for West Side Story. Additionally, as the film’s producer, Spielberg has set a new best picture record with 11 nominations.
The Academy has not yet chosen a host for this year’s ceremony, which is set to air on ABC on March 27 at 8 p.m. ET.
