Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson tops Forbes List
Despite, Iron Man 3 being the highest grossing movie of 2013 with 1.2 billion dollars, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is having the best week ever by beating Robert Downey Jr as the top-grossing actor.
Iron Man was Downey’s only movie of 2013, while Dwayne Johnson had one huge film after another not including two smaller films. Together they added up to $1.3 billion dollars at the global box office for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s projects.
With another Fast and Furious movie scheduled to be released next year, Johnson should have another great year in 2014. He could do even better with the major feature film, Hercules. Herecules centers on the mythological hero’s life after he completes his famous 12 labors, and many critics commented that this project has major potential.
Fast and Furious 6 helped put actors high on the list including Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker. Vin Diesel earned $887 million and came in fourth place.
But, remember grosses are not the same as earnings.
Downey outearned Johnson by $29 million with $75 million in estimated earnings between June 2012 and June 2013, the period we used for the latest edition of our Celebrity 100 list. The numbers we’re looking at here are how many dollars each star’s movies brought in at the box office worldwide this year (Forbes).
But, with his recent success expect The Rock’s manager and agent leverage larger deals for their client!
