Instagram and Facebook Will Begin by Suggesting More Content From Content Creators You Don’t Follow To Help Build the “Discovery Engine.”
The founder and CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, announced in November that the firm will increase the amount of content from content creator accounts on Facebook and Instagram by the end of 2023.

The new algorithm will appear to be drifting away from the traditional feed, mostly comprised of your friends’ and followers’ posts and pictures. Instead, it will begin pushing more suggested material, such as popular Reels. “The Discovery Engine” was the name Facebook announced for its AI-powered content curation tool. The goal, according to Zuckerberg, is to compete with TikTok’s use of artificial intelligence to produce videos that appear in users’ feeds and has kept them engaged, resulting in one of the most popular apps.
According to the CEO, recommendations take up to 15% of what individuals see on Facebook and even more on Instagram. “AI finds additional content that people find interesting, increasing engagement and the quality of our feeds,” Zuckerberg said during a call. He said the firm would concentrate on using AI to recommend new material on people’s feeds to cut down on ad costs.
