Issa Rae’s Hoorae Media and Walmart have partnered to create an incubator designed to develop the talents of emerging Black creatives.

The innovative Black & Unlimited Digital Development program is designed to give new creators the resources they need to thrive “in our underrepresented industry,” says the ‘Insecure’ co-creator and star.

HOORAE media, the content production company helmed by Issa Rae, is tapping into Walmart as a partner to foster blossoming Black talent and cultivate them as the next generation of storytelling.

Rae, the co-creator and star of Insecure, spearheads a revolutionary program called Black & Unlimited Digital Development to provide upcoming Black content creators with learning opportunities and guidance from esteemed industry professionals.

“HOORAE is proud to partner with Walmart to support Black creators as they share their content with new audiences. With the support of the Black & Unlimited Digital Development initiative, the selected creators will expand their brands and develop their voices in our underrepresented industry,” Rae said.

They will reward the fortunate nine creators chosen for the inaugural Black & Unlimited Digital Development Program with a generous $10,000 stipend. “to offset pay inequities traditionally experienced by Black creators and help them focus on limitless discovery and creation,” according to the program.

D.J. Vaughn, Walmart’s director of multicultural media partnerships and mastermind behind the company’s drive for more inclusive storytelling, continued with his statement: “We are excited to collaborate with HOORAE for the first time to provide Black creators with the tools, resources, and education they need to be successful through this innovative program.”

Selected for the Black & Unlimited Digital Development program are Tyris Winter, Alex Hill, Chef Shaiheem, Mariah Jae, Amanda S. Wicks, Archie Jay, Destiny Aaiyana, Brelynn Hunt, and Cam Sullivan-Brown.

Participants from far and wide will converge in Los Angeles for a weekend of educational activities, events, and content production challenges – all part of the first-ever Black & Unlimited Digital Development program.

Issa Rae is an American actress, writer, producer, and director. She first gained attention for her acclaimed web series Awkward Black Girl. In 2016, she launched the HBO comedy-drama series Insecure, which she also stars in. She has since produced various other television shows and movies while continuing to write and act. Her latest writing project is an HBO Max comedy series called Rap Sh*t. Rae also recently released her memoir “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl,” which chronicles her early career and experiences with racism, sexism, and anxiety. She continues to break boundaries in the entertainment industry as she strives to create content that speaks honestly to the African-American experience. Her work has earned her multiple awards and recognition, including an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Rae’s message of empowerment resonates with people worldwide and has become a champion for young black women everywhere. She is genuinely one of the most inspiring creatives of our time.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Rae is a passionate advocate for social justice and has used her platform to speak out on issues such as racial inequality, police brutality, and the wage gap. She is an active member of Color Of Change, an organization that works to address systemic racism in America.
