Joaquin Phoenix is set to capitalize on the massive success of ‘Joker’

Joaquin Phoenix has reportedly been cast in the upcoming sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker, which is scheduled to begin filming this fall. According to reports, the actor will likely earn more than four times as much for the follow-up. According to new reports, the critically acclaimed actor is expected to receive USD 20 million for reprising his role as the titular character in the franchise’s second installment. For comparison, Phoenix made $4.5 million for the first film, indicating his compensation has increased by more than 400% in the last two years.

According to The Wrap, Lady Gaga will play a role in the sequel, with reports claiming she’ll portray Joker’s sidekick and love interest Harley Quinn. Phillips previously collaborated with Lady Gaga on the 2018 remake of A Star is Born. With her musical abilities, there’ve been reports that Joker: Folie à Deux might be a full-fledged musical. Of course, DC Films and Warner Bros. Pictures have yet to make an official announcement, so fans of the first film should keep an eye out for further news.
