Kim Cattrall Opens Up About Her Cameo in ‘And Just Like That…’
Kim Cattrall recently shared details about her highly anticipated cameo in the series ‘And Just Like That…’ during an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The View. Known for her iconic portrayal of Samantha Jones in the original HBO series ‘Sex and the City’ and its two movies, Cattrall spoke about her return to the show despite her longstanding feud with Sarah Jessica Parker, the star and executive producer of the series. Cattrall revealed the factors that influenced her decision to accept the cameo role.
During the interview, Cattrall discussed receiving a call from Casey Bloys, the chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, expressing their desire to work things out. She recalled her initial response with a grin, saying, “Hmmm… Let me get creative.” One of her requests was to bring back Patricia Field, the former costume designer of ‘SATC,’ as Cattrall wanted to reprise her role with Samantha’s distinctive style. She emphasized the need to push the boundaries and create an impactful comeback.
While Cattrall refrained from discussing her co-star or the ongoing drama, she remained tight-lipped about the storyline. However, it is known that Samantha’s return will not result in a heartfelt reunion with Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) and the other leading ladies, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis). Reports indicate that Cattrall shot her scenes for the cameo without interacting with the series stars or showrunner Michael Patrick King, filming in a “garage” in New York City on March 22.
In the upcoming season, Samantha, who now resides in London, will have a phone conversation with Carrie. The previous season explained their falling out when Carrie terminated Samantha as her publicist, a plot devised after Cattrall expressed her dissatisfaction with the franchise and described her relationship with Parker as “toxic.” Although the season hinted at a possible reconciliation through text messages, the real-life history between the stars suggests a distant outcome.
The iconic fictional friend group from New York City, which captivated viewers with candid discussions on love, sex, and friendship, celebrated its 25th anniversary with a turbulent decade.
