Marvel finally chooses a director for Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.
Marvel has recently announced that they have hired Peyton Reed to direct Ant Man with Adam McKay to assist in making the superhero movie.
Originally, Edgar Wright was the director of Ant-Man but later dropped out of the production due to creative differences. Then, Adam McKay was previously in talks to direct the Marvel feature film but dropped out of the production last week. It was then announced that Reed and David Wain were also considered to direct the production.
Adam McKay is a former Saturday Night Live writer who worked alongside Will Ferrell and later moved on to work on feature films.
Peyton Reed has worked on numerous comedies including The Break-Up, Yes Man and Bring It On. He was also considered to be the director of The Fantastic Four at Fox but that opportunity would later go to Tim Story.
Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas will continue to lead the cast in the feature film which will hit theaters on July 17, 2015. Paul Rudd is expected to play Ant-Man, and Michael Douglas will play Dr. Hank Pym.
Ant-Man is based on the Marvel comic book series from the 1960's. “Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
