Mexican wrestling star dies in the ring after a wrestling move goes wrong.
A popular Mexican wrestling star was killed during a live show in Tijuana last night when a stunt went incredibly wrong in the center of the ring.
According to reports, El Hijo Del Perro Aguayo was taking on former WWE star Rey Mysterio Jr. when he was performing a stunt and apparently snapped his neck or spine.
The wrestlers didn’t notice how serious the injury was at first. But, they quickly soon realized something was wrong when he became unresponsive. Once everyone saw how serious it was, Aguayo was put on a stretcher and rushed to a hospital where he was prounounced dead.
Aguayo was only 35-years old.
This is what one commenter had to say about the accident on Deadspin:
While the video is hard to watch, most likely he suffered a Basilar Skull Fracture, based on the evidence of blood in the eyes, which is visible on the Youtube footage. It’s hard to believe that a simple case of taking a bump wrong could kill somebody due to whiplash. However that is apparently what happened. Let me be clear, Rey Mysterio didn’t kill anybody. Pedro took a bump wrong, and caused his own injury in a freak accident. Rey Mysterio has been doing that spot for well over 10 years now. Perhaps due to how little time they had been working together again caused Pedro to take the bump wrong. We will ultimately never know for sure.
However even if the initial injury was survivable, Konnan shaking the every loving crap out of him was not. His head flopped all over the place. With an existing neck injury plus the additional trauma, this is a prime example of how NOT to treat someone who has experienced neck trauma.
