It’s official: Disney has confirmed Indiana Jones 5.
Only a few days into 2016 and we have some huge movie news: Disney has confirmed a 5th Indiana Jones movie. Bob Iger, the Walt Disney Company chairman and CEO, mentioned that the movie is happening during an interview with Bloomberg.
We all know that Disney acquired Lucasfilm a few years ago for a few billion dollars, which includes Lucasfilm’s intellectual property -things like, Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Iger spoke about the huge success of the recent Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and how that opened up the possibility of several more sequels. Especially one for “Indiana Jones, by the way, which will be coming.”
There have been plenty of rumors surrounding the movie up to this point. Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn has indicated his support reviving the film. And Director Steven Spielberg has said he’d like to keep the series going with Harrison Ford.
“As long as there’s more adventures out there, I’ve got a bullwhip, a fedora, a leather jacket and a man on a horse who knows how to get the job done,” Spielberg told Screen International. He made sure to add that it’s “certainly not [his] intention to ever have another actor step into [Harrison Ford’s] shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman.”
For whatever reason Harrison Ford doesnt return for the rol, Chris Pratt has been rumored to star in the upcoming feature film. Nothing has been confirmed. The film would not be the same without the original Indiana JOnes himself, but Chris Pratt sounds like a pretty good match for the role. Especially since he led Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie.
But, this begs the question, is Disney going to bring Shia LaBeouf back?
