Marvel Exec Kevin Feige is Developing New “Star Wars” Movies

Date:

Marvel head Kevin Feige is developing new “Star Wars” movies.

Marvel Studios executive Kevin Feige is developing a new “Star Wars” movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Studios co-chairman Alan Horn discussed Feige taking over the franchise by either working alongside or replacing current “Star Wars” producer Kathleen Kennedy.

“We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox,” Horn said. “With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”

It remains to be seen if this will mean Feige will be partnering with Kennedy on a new “Star Wars” movie or if he’ll be producing a new feature film once “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” hits theaters.

The Hollywood Reporter reports Feige may have already started casting. “Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play when and if he makes the movie,” but it’s unknown who that person is at this point.

“Star Wars” fans have been harsh on the latest “Star Wars” movies, but news of Feige, who has a proven track record with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, maybe some good news. Under Feige, Marvel has had a long list of successful movies including,  Avengers: Endgame, which grossed $2.9 billion USD. Feige has a packed slate of Marvel movies and TV in the works as well, and he is expected to take a major role in producing the next set of Marvel heroes including the X-Men franchise, which Disney acquired from its acquisition of Fox.
