‘Nate Parker is a Rapist’ Posters Hit Hollywood

Date:

Posters calling Nate Parker a rapist have hit Hollywood.

As The Birth of a Nation’ writer, director and star Nate Parker’s previous 1999 sexual assault continues to make headlines and deteriorate the actor’s dream of winning an Oscar, altered versions of the movie’s poster have popped up in Los Angeles. The posters have been reimagined by street artist Sabo, according to TheWrap and featrue Parker’s face with the word: “Rapist?”

The street artist told TheWrap, that he “wouldn’t normally do something like this but” the actor “pissed me off”

Several copies of Sabo’s altered version have been plastered across Los Angeles, including right outside of the 20th Century Fox studio. Fox Searchlight, which is part of Fox, is releasing Nate Parker’s indie drama on October 7th.

The poster has been changed from an original version in which Parker appears as the film’s lead character, a real life slave revolt leader Nat Turner, with a noose around his neck made of the American flag.

It’s important to point out that this street artist is also deeply upset with American politics. Sabo, told reporters that he thinks “Black people should stop voting for Democrats.”

This news comes after details surrounding Nate Parker’s sexual assault case hit the internet compounded by the fact that the alleged rape victim committed suicide after ingesting 200 pills.

Nate Parker wrote, directed and starred in the critically acclaimed feature film, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and was bought by Fox Searchlight this year. As an early awards favorite, Fox Searchlight, is attempting to save their investing by reportedly staying in front of the story.
