2012 Documentary Shows Orlando Shooter Before the Shooting

Date:

Omar Mateen, Orlando nightclub shooter, appeared in the award winning 2012 documentary The Big Fix.

“The Big Fix” was a major documentary. It won several awards in 2012 after covering the 2010 BP oil spill. But, did you know the Orlando shooter, Omar Mateen, was featured in the documentary?

According CBS, Omar Mateen worked as a security guard contracted to security company G4S following the 2010 BP oil spill and he was interviewed for the documentary.

“No one gives a s*** here. Everybody’s just, get out to get paid. They’re like hoping for more oil to come out and more people to complain so they’ll have jobs,” Mateen tells a reporter. “They want more disaster to happen.”

Six years later, Omar Mateen would work as a guard in a gated community in Florida. He then went home, only to go back out and kill 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. During the nightclub massacre, Omar would go on Facebook declare his allegiance to ISIS, call 911 tell the operator this was a terrorist attack and call a news station about the attack. “Then he started saying he did it for the Islamic State, he did it for ISIS and he started speaking in Arabic,” said Matthew Gentili, a News 13 TV producer who received a call from Mateen.

According to CBS, the FBI has been speaking with the owners of other clubs in the area. In fact, Michael Bass, club operator at the gay club “Revere” says he received a Facebook friend request from Mateen three days before the shooting. “I saw that picture that morning of the incident. I swallowed my tongue. It was Omar Mateen,” Bass said.
