Nintendo’s Latest Investment is Great News for Actors

Date:

Nintendo has publicly announced that it will acquire Japanese computer-generated animation studio Dynamo Pictures, to be rebranded as “Nintendo Pictures.” Dynamo has previously collaborated with Nintendo on the Pikmin Short Movies series and Metroid Other M, both of which were released exclusively for the Wii. Outside of Nintendo projects, it has also worked on Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness for Netflix, and more.

“Nintendo has decided to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares (excluding treasury shares) of Dynamo Pictures and make it a wholly owned subsidiary to strengthen the planning and production structure of visual content in the Nintendo Group,” reads the official documentation.

The purchase, which is expected to be completed on October 3, opens the door for Nintendo to produce its own feature films and programs in the future. Meanwhile, Nintendo is readying the release of its highly-anticipated theatrical adaptation of Super Mario Bros., which will star Chris Pratt. The live-action version will be similar to Detective Pikachu, a spin-off from the popular Pokémon franchise.
